About Me

Welcome to my educational blog! My name is Shelby Zeigler (soon to be Mrs. White)! I am a Secondary English teacher at Murray County High School in Chatsworth, GA. This is my first year teaching, and I just graduated from the University of Georgia in 2015. Currently, I have the pleasure of teaching 9th Grade Literature and Composition and 11th Grade American Literature and Composition.

I graduated from Murray County High School in 2011. Both my parents worked in the Murray County School System. The school building has always been my home away from home. I remember pretending to have room full of students in my mom's classroom. I would rearrange the desks and write all over the board while she was in meetings. I used to steal her high heel shoes and clank around in them on the front porch pretending I was a teacher putting my students safely in their car after school. Becoming a teacher was something I knew without a doubt I wanted to do, and I am so lucky to be back doing what I love in the place I have always known as home. My fiance, Jake White, also teaches Secondary Math at Murray County High School. He coaches football and golf. We are blessed to work at the same school and know all of the same students. Our conversations and classroom stories at home are much more meaningful when we can place a face with a name.

In addition to my role in the classroom, I also help assist with the Varsity Competition Cheerleading squad and National Honor Society and Beta Club. Our school combines NHS and Beta, because most of the students overlap in both clubs. I have enjoyed my role as coach and sponsor this year.

I am constantly learning daily through my successes and failures in the classroom, and I hope to capture these moments of brilliance and insanity through this blog!

I also have a class website for my students at:
